DAY 50 - Journey (Sunday Citar)

I spoke to a long time friend today that I have not seen in years. He has been serving all of us in the military. I just thought this was fitting.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Thought provoking quote. My hope is that one day we will all be able to live in peace. It's especially hard at this time of the year to know that there is a major contrast on the other side of the world. My thoughts go to those that are on peace keeping missions to help others be free.

I am listening right now to this Christmas song "war is over" and was carried away by this song. I just thought your quote fits to this song too..

That is a very heavy thought this morning. It is so sad that so many men and women will not be home for Christmas this year. I can not imagine how difficult that is for their families. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

I think this is a great quote! It really is intense, and makes SO utterly grateful for the men and women that serve to protect us. Our country is definitely worth fighting for. I'm so proud of our nephew who is ready and willing to serve and glad we get to see him for the couple of weeks he is home. My heart does go out to the families that sacrifice so much, and wont see their loved ones at Christmas this year. Thanks for sharing an inspiring quote!
